The NDIS has announced upcoming changes to the NDIS for 2025-2026 going into effect from November 24th 2025.
Key changes include:
- reduced funding for art and music therapies
- removal of the COVID addendum
- changes to regional travel geographic locations
- changes for providers needing to specify the service category for allied health services rather than selecting ‘other’
- changes to community participation rules around claiming recreational or non-therapeutic activities as therapy
- removal of low-cost assistive technologies line item which must now be claimed under core – consumables
- updates to the SDA calculator in line with indexation of the Disability Support
Pension.
Participants do not need to take any immediate action as their current plans will remain active.
Therapy users should ask providers if rates have changed.
Regional participants should check the MMM 2023 travel model to see if there are any changes to their areas classification: Modified Monash Model | Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing
For providers, you may need to update pricing guides and schedules, review mmm postcodes to reflect new geographic definitions, align to correct allied health categories, and ensure programs are not being misclaimed as therapy.
